No dia 4 de junho de 2025, uma aeronave executiva Cessna Citation C550, matrícula YV‑3217, desapareceu dos radares pouco depois de decolar do Aeroporto Internacional Simón Bolívar, em Maiquetía, Venezuela. A bordo estavam três pessoas, que até então estavam desaparecidas.
Após uma intensa operação de busca e salvamento, realizada pelas autoridades venezuelanas, incluindo o Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil (INAC) e a Organização Nacional de Salvamento e Segurança Marítima (ONSA), foram encontrados restos da aeronave no mar, próximo à costa do estado de Vargas, na região do Parque Nacional Waraira Repano.
Foram localizados fragmentos da fuselagem, cartões de identificação e coletes salva-vidas flutuando na água, confirmando que o avião caiu no oceano próximo à costa. Até o momento, não há confirmação oficial sobre sobreviventes.

A aeronave decolou às 19h57 do dia 3 de junho e perdeu contato às 20h03, apenas 24 km a leste do aeroporto de Maiquetía. Estava em rota provavelmente para a ilha de Margarita, no Caribe venezuelano.
Esse incidente chamou atenção nacional por envolver uma aeronave executiva e tripulação reduzida. Autoridades continuam as investigações para determinar as causas do acidente.

Em janeiro de 2025, outra aeronave do mesmo modelo, matrícula YV‑3561, caiu em uma área montanhosa próxima a Caracas, com três militares venezuelanos a bordo, resultando em vítimas fatais.
