
A Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) recebeu a segunda aeronave de um conjunto de seis que pretende adquirir até ao final deste ano. De acordo com o jornal Domingo, o novo Airbus A319 já se encontra em solo moçambicano, ampliando a capacidade de transporte de passageiros da companhia.
A aeronave Airbus A319, com capacidade para 144 passageiros, junta-se ao modelo Q-400, adquirido recentemente. Esta expansão representa um marco importante na modernização da frota da LAM, uma meta central do plano de reestruturação da companhia.
Segundo informações divulgadas em Agosto, a companhia anunciou a aquisição de um Bombardier Q400, com 74 lugares, sendo o primeiro avião novo em 18 anos. O presidente da comissão de gestão, Dane Kondic, destacou que esta seria apenas a primeira de muitas aeronaves destinadas a “devolver à LAM a dimensão que deve ter e que terá”.
💬 “Este é um passo firme rumo à reestruturação e modernização da nossa companhia”, afirmou Kondic, agradecendo o apoio dos accionistas e do Governo de Moçambique.
A LAM tem enfrentado vários desafios operacionais nos últimos anos, incluindo a redução da frota, dificuldades financeiras e problemas de manutenção apontados por especialistas da aviação.
Essas dificuldades levaram à suspensão de rotas internacionais, com foco atual nas ligações domésticas, como Maputo–Nampula e Maputo–Beira.
Com a chegada das novas aeronaves, a expectativa é que a LAM retome gradualmente os voos regionais e aumente a frequência de operações internas, reforçando o papel da companhia como principal transportadora aérea nacional.
